Abrahamic Program for Young Adults: Celebrating Unity and
Diversity
The Abrahamic Program for
Young Adults (APYA) is designed to reflect the efforts and mission
of the Department of Religion in building the Abrahamic Community
by teaching young adults at Chautauqua Institution about the
relationships between the Abrahamic traditions: Judaism, Christianity,
and Islam.
APYA programming is designed for senior high and college aged
young adults.
General Schedule of

- 7 p.m.
Sundays in the Art Quad Field
- Movie Night
- 8 p.m.
Mondays at the Hurlbut Memorial Community Church in the Marian
Lawrence Room (2nd Floor). A selection of pop culture movies
will be selected for the season guided by the themes of each
week with the intention for a brief discussion following the
movie.

9 p.m. Tuesdays at the Hurlbut Memorial Community Church on the
3rd Floor
- Culture Night
- 9 p.m.
Wednesdays at the Hurlbut Memorial Community Church on the 3rd
Floor
- Porch Talk
- 9 p.m.
Thursdays on the Alumni Hall Porch (on Wythe between South and
Cookman) Listen to and interview famous people (e.g. speakers
of the week, chaplains, resident notables, scholars and activists).
They come to speak with us about their lives and their passions,
and to answer questions of young adults have.

11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Operated by the Young Adult Team leaders
Goals of the Abrahamic
Program for Young Adults
- To dispel stereotypes
through understanding and seek ways to develop unity within diverse
culture without sacrificing diversity.
- To promote growth
within one's own faith, through gaining an understanding and
respect for the faith of others.
- To connect with
young adults in the Chautauqua Community by addressing their
concerns.
- To create a
context within which to help young adults to understand the Abrahamic
Program and to have a lived experience in the Abrahamic Community
Our Common Vision
Interactions,
conversations, and experiences that help everyone grow within
their own faith, grow in knowledge about other faiths, and reinforce
the unity of all faiths.
