MYSTIC HEART MEDITATION
PROGRAM
The Department of Religion
has announced the schedule for the 2008 Mystic Heart Meditation
Program. The program brings to Chautauqua teachers-in-residence
from a variety of religious and spiritual traditions. These teachers
provide Chautauquans of all backgrounds a group experience of
universal meditation practices.
The Mystic Heart teachers
will offer instruction and guidance in the esoteric teachings
of Christianity, Judaism, Sufi practices of Islam, as well as
Zen Buddhism, Hinduism, Yoga, and Sikhism. Each week's teacher-in-residence
will lead a meditation from 7:15 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday.
In addition, there will be an afternoon seminar on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. These sessions will offer more
in-depth instruction within each tradition.

- Week Seven: Mary Lou Lisowski,
Centering Prayer/Christianity
- Week Eight: Muinuddin
and Sharifa Smith: Sufism/Islam
- Week Nine: Subagh Singh
Khalsa, Sikhism/Yoga
The entire program of instruction
and practice is appropriate for people of all faiths as well
as for people of no particular religion. One intention of the
Mystic Heart Meditation Program is to help participants discover
the universality of experience within all wisdom traditions. |
