Michael Ruse

Michael Ruse is the Lucyle T.
Werkmeister Professor of Philosophy at Florida State University
and the Director of the History and Philosophy of Science Program
at Bristol University. A philosopher and historian of science
who has written extensively on the impact of Darwin on culture,
he is a leading expert on the creation vs. evolution debate,
and one of the few participants in the conversation willing to
engage creationists and intelligent design proponents with respect
and appreciation. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada as
well as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement
of Science, Professor Ruse has delivered significant lectures,
such as the Gifford Lectures in Glasgow, all over the world,
and has received numerous honorary degrees for his scholarship
and work. He is the author of over 30 books, including The Darwinian
Revolution: Science Red in Tooth and Claw; Darwinism Defended:
A Guide to the Evolution Controversies; Taking Darwin Seriously:
A Naturalistic Approach to Philosophy; and Can a Darwinian be
a Christian? The Relationship between Science and Religion.
Dr. Ruse holds a B.A. from the
University of Bristol, an M.A. from McMaster University, and
a Ph.D. from the University of Bristol. |
